Home : Dogs Welcome

Riverside House holiday cottage has been welcoming dogs on self-catering holidays for nearly twelve years. Your dog is part of your family so don’t leave your four-legged friends at home when you go away. Dog Welcome Pack

Riverside House holiday cottage is the ultimate break away for your beloved family pets. There are many reasons for booking a dog friendly holiday cottage stay at Riverside House, but we’ve just added one more to the list. In January 2019 we launched our dog friendly welcome pack.

To get those tails wagging on arrival the welcome pack will be waiting and contents include:

  • Dog treats
  • Dog bowls and non-slip drip mats
  • Poop bags
  • Doggy shampoo
  • Dog throw
  • Dog bed and
  • Dog towels.

Some other dog friendly features of Riverside House holiday cottage include:

  • Safe enclosed garden
  • Lots of ground floor space and easy to clean flooring
  • Cosy log burner for naps after walkies and fire guard for protection
  • Stair gates for the top and bottom of the stairs
  • Outside tap for washing off muddy paws
  • Traffic free walks from the door of the cottage
  • Nearby dog friendly pubs
  • Peak District dog friendly attractions

Here are a few of our dog friendly highlights:

Peak District Country Walks

Right from the doorstep of the cottage you are in the glorious countryside of the Peak District and whether it is a walk along the river Wye or on the traffic free Monsal Trail there’s a fabulous dog walk waiting for you all to explore. Why not take the Monsal Trail to the Monsal Viaduct with fabulous views? And in the summer splashing in the river is plenty of fun too!

Dog Friendly Pubs

There are so many options for dog friendly pubs and many include a walk on the way too. The local pub, The Angler’s Rest, is very dog friendly and whilst a stroll along the lane or Monsal Trail may be too short for some (one mile each way) it is a handy pit-stop to take in a pint and dog treat (available at the bar). Other dog friendly pubs nearby include The Stable Bar at the Monsal Head (glorious views) and The Church Inn, Chelmorton.

Dog Friendly Days Out in the Peak District

There are some great options for dog friendly days out with driving distance of Riverside House holiday cottage, including:

  • Crich Tramway Museum
  • Buxton Tram
  • Peak Rail
  • Buxton Pavilion Gardens and
  • Treak Cliff Cavern to name a few.
