Riverside House : Pubs, Restaurants, Food, Drink

We have visited all the pubs in Tideswell (all in a days work!) and we have given our thoughts below.

The Horse and Jockey has freshly prepared food and the beer is good too.  Tuesday nights you can have two steaks and a bottle of wine for £25.  Curry night is Wednesdays with two courses for £10.  Traditional Sunday dinners with all the trimmings are £7.99.  The pub has log fires and Sky sports. Dogs are welcome.  A very frendly welcome from the landlord and staff and for pub grub this really offers excellent value.

The Star is very welcoming and it is dog friendly in the bar on the right.  This pub is divided into small rooms and the landlady is happy for our guests to book a room (no charge).

The George Inn has plenty of room for groups and families.  A soup and sandwich is £5 for a weekday lunch and a main and dessert are £10 for lunch.  Thursday night is curry night and Friday night is fish specials.  Sunday roast is from £7.95.  Dogs are very welcome inside and out. Once a month there are also cinema evenings upstairs at The George so if you feel like some culture while you are on holiday this is worth looking into.  The email is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Anchor Inn, Four Lane Ends, which is on the outskirts of Tideswell is now a steak and rum bar and has been revitalised by new owners.  Well worth trying and has plenty of parking.

Family run specialist bakery, homemade cakes, pastries and pies. Famous pork pies prepared to a 50 year old recipie.  Has won a Great Taste Award 2010 awarded by the Guild of Fine Food for their Hot Lemon Chutney.

If you want an experience never to be forgotten visit this pub!  It is a pub for beer drinkers - and don't ask for larger! The link will take you to a review that will explain all about it!  (It might be a good idea to walk or get a lift - driving could be dangerous after a visit here).

The Peak District Parlour is a cafe, take away and deli with a variey of home cooked meals, teas and coffees and has a deli counter with British meats and cheeses.  There are also home made cakes, freshly baked bread and the owners can offer outside catering and a mobile bar.  It is opposite the bank and is open every day from 8 am to 5pm including Sundays.  It also sells the award winning Peak District Dairy ice creams, milk and butter.  The contact telephone number is 01298 8731000.

This pub is situated Four Lane Ends at the far end of Tideswell, with quite a lot of parking.  The pub has new owners and has been revitalised and is now a steak and rum bar with other options too.  Worth a visit.
