Riverside House : Pubs, Restaurants, Food, Drink

Located in this delightful Peak District village, The Bulls Head is a lovely gastro pub and well worth a visit when combined with a stroll around.  This is a really popular tourist village so it can be busy in summer months so do book ahead for food.  The bridge, the Sheep Wash Bridge, over the river Wye is famous for its' custom of sheep dipping, where the ewes were encouraged to swim across the water whilst the lambs were kept penned by the bridge.  You will also be able to see trout in the clear river waters, visit the local deli and shop and there are numerous walks out from the village.

We have now visited this pub twice and although it is a bit of a drive it is well worth it!  The pub has a huge range of beers and ciders - it is an Ashover Brewery pub and the home made food is excellent.  If you like a Sunday carvery you will love it (we have now eaten it twice); the portions are huge, it is great value for money and really tasty.  Seriously we can't recommend this pub enough.  It does get very busy though so do arrive in plenty of time or it might be worth booking in advance for larger groups.

This pub is often popular and so we do recommend that you book.  The food is very good and the views from the pub are fantastic.  A good place to start walking too.  Dogs are allowed if well behaved.  Near Eyam (Bretton)

A foodies heaven and well worth a visit for home produced and locally sourced food.  If you like meat and game you will love the butchers counter, but the deli counter and cheese counter are excellent too.  An excellent choice of fruit and vegetables as well as real ales and plenty of other delicious items! Well worth a visit to stock up for a special meal.  We've been going to the Farm Shop for many years and it really is a treat and worth a visit.  Sometimes it can get busy and especially over Christmas and New Year, but normally there is plenty of parking.

We visited this pub in January whilst on a walk and we were not dissapointed.  Very friendly, cosy bar, great beer and excellent food.  Rabbit casserole and fish pie were excellent.  Would throughly recommend.
